Description

The state of Black relationships has been a topic of much discussion in recent years. One particular aspect that often goes unaddressed are black men, who are expected to be the sole providers for their families while also being held to a high financial standard to prove their worth as high-value men. Some black women have even neglected their traditional gender roles of appreciating their man and taking care of the family, leading to an imbalance in the dynamics of black relationships. In the black community, traditional gender roles have always played a significant role in the success of relationships.

In this episode, I am joined by Marlon Browne, the host of Straight Talk and the co-host of 2 Strong, to talk about the state of black relationships right now. Marlon shares his thoughts on the “black female voice”, the origin that men should provide everything in a relationship, and the biggest cure of modern black relationships. He also talks about how the lack of traditional gender roles has affected modern black relationships and shares his thoughts on the concept of high-value men as defined by women. Tune in to learn more about this and other exciting topics!

Notable quotes:

“Society has told women that their value is way more than what it actually is. They have been lied to. So, you can be a trash human being, but as long as you are a female, you have something valuable, and I don’t think that is completely true.”

“If your emphasis on a high-value man is continually on what you can get, it doesn’t matter how soft you are. You are still a punk.”

“A high-value man is one that can increase your character, one that can improve you as a person and not a rich man.”

“At the age of 40, your physical accomplishments should never trump your relationship accomplishments with God…"

“Relationships are a God thing and not a man thing, so if you want it to function the right way, you go talk to the person who created the thing and tell you how to run it.”
