In this episode, I talk about NECROMANCER (1988) on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome. This horror film is directed by Dusty Nelson and written by William Naud. It is a supernatural spin on the rape and revenge subgenre. Julie Johnson (Elizabeth Kaitan) is a theatre major trying to avoid advances from Professor Charles (Russ Tamblyn), a man she was once in love with. While working on campus late one night, she is sexually assaulted by Paul, with assistance from Carl and Allan. The trio of men then attempt to blackmail her into staying silent. Julie is unable to turn to anyone for help, including her boyfriend, Eric (John Tyler). Desperate for revenge, Julie confides in her friend Freda (Rhonda Dorton), who takes Julie to Lisa, a necromancer (Lois Masten Ewing). Soon a shape-shifting demon assumes Julie’s form to seduce the rapists and kill them. Meanwhile, Julie has nightmares about the rapists being killed. By the time she realizes that the killings in her nightmares are actually happening, the necromancer has her sights set on Eric. Julie fights herself to save Eric’s soul.
