- In our rapidly advancing world, where information spreads quickly through technology and social media, we should be cautious of misinformation.
5. A Few of the Week's Accomplishments
- The Department of Health deployed the Syphilis Aware Campaign: Protect You, Protect Navajo during the Navajo Nation Fair.
- I declared September Navajo Nation Recovery and Suicide Prevention Month.
- The Division for Children and Family Services' Department of Self-Reliance paid over $1 million in services for families.
6. Major Projects I Am Working On
- I participated in the U.S. Department of the Interior's Secretary's Tribal Advisory Council meeting as the primary representative for the Navajo BIA Region.
- Update from the Division of Community Development on bathroom additions.
- Last week, I met with the N.M. Indian Affairs Department regarding Capital Outlay projects.
- I signed a $2.1 million grant agreement for the Coyote Canyon Rehabilitation Center.
7. Meet & Greets
- On Saturday, First Lady and I watched as Ranisha Begaye was crowned as the 2024-2025 Miss Navajo Nation.
- In collaboration with NDOH's Special Diabetes Program, we promoted the Wellness Warrior Fitness Series.
- After the August 25 flooding in Shiprock, N.M., the BIA is managing drainage areas and waterways.
8. Upcoming Events
- On Friday, "When Natives Vote" Summit to be hosted at Navajo Preparatory Academy.
- On Friday, the Dennehotso Road Groundbreaking ceremony will take place for N6461/N6460.
