Description

Well, I’ve done it! I’ve landed where I’m (probably) going to stay until the end of the year: California! If you’ve never been, the one thing I’ll say is that the “chill vibes” everyone always talks about is spot on, and it’s just been absolutely incredible.

I’ve had a frickin’ fantastic year, and the podcast definitely  reflects that - so, I decided that to fully embrace and celebrate our successes, it felt right to spend the month of December in reflection. The universe guided me towards the top 6 most listened to episodes from 2021; in reflecting on 2 episodes each over the next 3 weeks, I’ll be thinking about what you, the listeners, were interested in as far as themes for this year, and how to take the lessons we’ve learned and apply them into 2022 so we can keep working towards realizing our goals. I’m so excited to reveal the episodes that took the top 6 and 5 spots for most downloads in 2021!

Number 6: Ep 22 - Redefining Loneliness and Connection to Transform Your Life with Leah Diteljan

Ask yourself: “How do we care, and not carry?” What strategies can you use to stop the patterns of feeling like a helpless child, and instead feel like an empowered adult?

My friend Leah’s speciality is talking about loneliness, and the effects that it can have on leadership. The thing that stood out the most for me listening to this episode again was the connection between loneliness and shame, and how patterns of childhood shame can breed feelings of loneliness. When Leah feels disconnected from herself, it makes her feel lonely; we often look outside of ourselves when really we should be turning inwards to reconnect with ourselves. I also loved talking about connecting for connecting’s sake, rather than connecting for validation, and how different those things feel. Leah also talked about identifying the 4 types of intimacy that you crave, and how to fulfil those needs by yourself and through connection with others. Basically she talks about a lot of really important things that are more timely than ever now, so if you enjoy the clips in this episode and want to hear more, check out the full version of this episode here!

Number 5: Ep 24 - How Death Can Inform Life Part 1 with Stephen Hudecki

Ask yourself: How can you reframe your own relationship with death to help live your life more truly?

Stephen and I met at a Buddhist event on death in the beginning of 2020. This is personally one of my all-time favourite episodes, because we had a really head-on conversation about what’s societally a pretty taboo topic: death. Stephen’s worked in palliative care for many years, so he’s had a lot of experience with death on a regular basis - but by using sound as therapy and healing in the care settings he works in, as well as his humor and lightheartedness, he’s able to navigate himself and others through this space in a really admirable way. Looking at death is really important because it informs how you live life. In this episode, Stephen talks about the power of repetition, and the difference between music and sound, as well as how sound has long been part of the practice of altering consciousness - which is often an important part of upgrading your beliefs, and your subconscious. Death is the opposite of what our society sells us in life; it’s about coming down to simply be. It’s sold as something scary, and painful - but Stephen helps to shift the perspective around death, as it truly is the only guarantee in this world. This is a two-part episode, so if you’re curious to hear more amazing stories from Stephen check out the full part 1 of the episode here, and if you’d like to listen to part 2 where I get more into my own story you can listen to that episode, too.

I hope you enjoyed listening to the highlights from numbers 6 & 5 of the most downloaded episodes from the Spirit of Success podcast for 2021! I hope you can use these themes to help yourself figure out how to best show up in 2022. And I have a special treat for you coming in January - Leah and Stephen will be returning to the podcast to reflect on where they are now, what’s changed since we last heard from them, and to look forward to the year ahead!

Next week on the podcast, I’ll reveal which episodes made it to the top  3 & 4 spots for 2021, so make sure you tune in!
