SHOW NOTES:
This is SUCH an exciting show! The MIND! How many times do I see athletes who can totally dominate if they just get out of their own way? This one is for softballers, athletes, and humans in general. This is PART 2 OF A TWO-PART INTERVIEW!
I am happy to welcome to the show Dr. Treva Anderson- she is a Florida native and earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida State University followed by her master's in rehabilitation counseling culminating in her doctorate in sport and exercise psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While the majority of her professional career has focused on developing mental toughness and resilience training for our military, she also maintains a consistent stream of work with athletes at every level from a wide variety of sports in addition to working with organizations such as law enforcement and business. On top of this, she is a certified mental performance consultant which is the gold standard in the field of performance psychology, and she is listed in the United States Olympic Committee's Sports Psychology Registry.
WHAT WE DISCUSS:
-pain vs discomfort when training
-injury prevalence differences in males vs females
-barriers to success males vs females
-fixed vs growth mindset
-thought differences in males vs females
-visualization and its performance benefits
-injuries and "don't let my coach down" mentality
-long-term development vs instant gratification
