Description

The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, observed on September 15th, honors the deep union of heart between the Blessed Mother and the Redeemer. Through this bond, Mary endured profound interior sorrows, especially during Christ’s Passion and Death, as a result of His mission. From the early days of Jesus' life, she bore the weight of maternal suffering and anxiety. Simeon's prophecy foretold that a sword would pierce her own soul, preparing her for the heartache to come.
