Accountability

Jon Fredricks

Today’s Scripture: Luke 11:45-54 NIV

__________

Luke 11:45-54 NIV

One of the lawyers said to Him in reply, “Teacher, when You say these things, You insult us too.” But He said, “Woe to you lawyers as well! For you load people with burdens that are hard to bear, while you yourselves will not even touch the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build theirtombs. For this reason also, the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill, and some they will persecute, so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.’ Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering.”

When He left that place, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be very hostile and to interrogate Him about many subjects, plotting against Him to catch Him in something He might say.

Luke 6:42 NIV

How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

1 Corinthians 11:31 NIV

But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged.

2) REMOVE THE SAND

Psalm 53:3 NIV

Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.

3) FAIL FORWARD

Luke 11:52 NIV

Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering.”

Proverbs 9:10 NIV

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

A) SEEKING THE SAVIOR

John 8:24 NIV

Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.”

1 John 1:9 NIV

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

B) LET PEOPLE IN

C) GROW

James 1:2-4 NIV: Trials and Temptations

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
