In a first for MXL, Iwan hosts an interview with the promoter and General Manager of Ignite Wrestling Pro, CJ Carter, on the road to the promotion's biggest show to date, the sold out "Buckle Up" event held at 96 Shenley Road in Borehamwood this coming Sunday.
Iwan and CJ preview the six-match card for Buckle Up, which sees Ignite collaborate with the Hitting The Turnbuckle Podcast in order to produce a true superhow for a promotion with its local fanbase at its heart.
The card features the Ignite debuts of both of RevPro's newly crowned singles men's champions, Michael Oku and Connor Mills, as well as debuts for Charles Crowley and Scotty Rawk, all reasons why the show has sold out with Ignite's largest attendance in its history.
Then both Iwan and CJ talk about Ignite in general, from the wrestlers considered to be the "core" of its roster, the history of the promotion itself, plus its most memorable matches and memories to date.
In the final segment, CJ talks about what caused him to hang up his boots after an in-ring career spanning over a decade in 2022, and how he has adjusted to post-retirement life in the industry.
We at MXL would like to extend our thanks to CJ - his candour and honesty, not to mention his willingness to set aside some time to do this interview in the first place, is very much appreciated, and we hope this is the first of many an interview we conduct on this podcast network. This is well worth a listen, especially if you're lucky enough to have a ticket to attend Sunday's show.
Recorded on the evening of Wednesday 19th July 2023.
