On this bonus edition of MXL, Dave sits down with regular panelist Mark Roffey to go a bit deep dive into two stand-out shows of the early March wrestling marathon in London - EVE's doubleheader celebrating International Women's Day.
We start with a look at the 2023 installment of EVE's Women Behaving Badly events, headlined by EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita defending against Lizzy Evo, the debuting Miyuki Takase taking on Alexxis Falcon, and the UK debut of the Queens of Kanpai (Session Moth Martina and Natsu Sumire) as they faced the Royal Aces. That and a stacked undercard set the table for EVE's 229 farewell (as they move to the Dome in Tufnell Park from April) which was a sterling Wednesday night out.
Then EVE had a Riot! at the Yard Theatre, in their return to the Hackney Wick area for the first time since 2016. This was main evented by Miyu Yamashita vs. Miyuki Takase in a dream match for the UK joshi aficionado, and the Queens of Kanpai would take on the team of Nina Samuels and The Ava (making her return to EVE competition). and again, a solid undercard in support.
Dave and Mark discuss the matches themselves, and other topics as well that spring to mind. They also discuss the positives and negatives of the two shows overall, of which there were some talking points to be found. To close, the EVE landscape going forward, including their first THREE shows at the Dome in Tufnell Park, and what has been set up for them, is also analyzed.
