Off the heels of RevPro's first event at the world-famous York Hall of 2023, Dave and Iwan (who'd miss his own sodding funeral and does a RUN-IN at 17:50), along with panelists Ashleigh Clements, Liam Stephens, and Mark Roffey, go deep-dive on the happenings of last Sunday's show.
- Main evented by the 30-man Revolution Rumble, a staple of RevPro's Portsmouth shows makes its debut in Bethnal Green, with the winner getting their very own "Epic Encounter" later in the year.
- Supporting the Rumble were two title matches, and one of interest to the panel was Southside Women's Champion, Dani Luna, defending her title once again against The Villainess, Skye Smitson, in a rematch from their bout in Cardiff in February.
- Also, a prodigal son of RevPro and former British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. hoped to open his 2023 in RevPro with a win by taking on RevPro's ace-in-waiting, The Master of the Half-Crab, Michael Oku.
- We also saw a style clash between "Drilla" Dan Moloney and the "Fireball" Francesco Akira, which opened the show on a high.
- And we saw a bonus match, featuring British Cruiserweight Champion Robbie X in action, which was a rematch from a fantastic match from last year at the 229!
- However, we're not afraid to talk about those negative elephants in the room, because doing a happy-happy podcast is hard work for us jaded old gits at MXL. So the panel air a collective grievance about York Hall shows that has been brewing for a while now - and that's the venue's security, and their approach more suited to the fans of the OTHER combat sport York Hall holds. We discuss how a special moment was spoilt by said issue, among other things that marred the overall enjoyment of the show.
- And last but definitely least, the British Heavyweight Championship was on the line as the crown jewel of the Legion and the United Empire, The Great-o-Khan, made his first defense against Ricky Knight Jr, the man whose uncle Zak basically took a dive for him to cost him the title at Uprising in the worst match of 2022. And yes, the panel has a LOT to say about this match, and not much of it is positive - in fact, this match is argued to be among other things: the antithesis of RevPro's "Pro Wrestling At Its Best" tagline, a carbon copy of the worst tropes of PROGRESS's "Sports Entertainment Bollocks" booking that plagues THEIR top titles, catering to only the most insufferable of "United Empire Stans" that RevPro attracts, and to all, not only the current Worst Match of 2023, but arguably the worst match EVER to take place at York Hall. Also, cue the conspiracy theories that RKJ's run in RevPro is done, coincidentally as his star in PROGRESS has risen to Championship calibre - we vent our spleens, probably into the void, about this as well.
So as a listener note: part of this podcast gets a bit ranty and downright angry at times, and we apologise in advance.
