Professor, medical anthropologist, health care researcher and...witch? Discover how magic and social science can make beautiful music together! In this episode, Sabrina explains why you don't have to choose.
She's a tarot Diviner, a teacher, a writer, a speaker, and a coach—-as well as a medical anthropologist. She trained in the Blue Star Tradition of Wicca and the Gryphon’s Grove School of Shamanism while completing her Ph.D. Later, she directed an interdisciplinary doctoral program at the Rutgers School of Nursing. Sabrina's Ph.D research explored the challenges and triumphs of a group of resilient HIV+ Latinas living in the Newark, New Jersey area. She recorded some of their wisdom in her first book, Surviving HIV/AIDS in the Inner City: How Resourceful Latinas Beat the Odds. Every school year, Sabrina trained urban health scholars to address racial and ethnic disparities in health and health care. But her summers were spent teaching classes in divination and spirituality. Now, she combines her spiritual and social science backgrounds in everything she does.
