Highlight - Genesis 13:14-17 New Living Translation
14 After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. 15 I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants[a] as a permanent possession. 16 And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted!17 Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.”
Explain – The Lord promised the land of Canaan as a permanent possession for Abram’s descendants, a free gift of God.
Apply – This is the promised land, the land of Canaan, promised by God for all of Abram, who will be known as Abraham. We as believer’s in Jesus Christ are also partakers in the promise, the New Jerusalem will rest on this land where we will dwell with God through eternity.
Daniel 7:27 ESV And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.’
Isaiah 66:22 ESV “For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the Lord, so shall your offspring and your name remain.
Revelation 21:2-3 ESV And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
Isaiah 65:17 ESV “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
Luke 13:29 ESV And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God.
Revelation 22:14 ESV Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.
Revelation 21:23-25 ESV And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.
James 1:12 ESV Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Respond - Lord, thank You for my life, for my salvation. I look forward to living with You and others in the New Jerusalem forever. Until then I seek to abide in You as You abide in me following You faithfully and obediently. Show me Your way Lord. I pray for those that do not know You, that they come to You, in Jesus name. Amen.
