Highlight – Genesis 41:41-46 New Living Translation

Joseph Made Ruler of Egypt

41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck. 43 Then he had Joseph ride in the chariot reserved for his second-in-command. And wherever Joseph went, the command was shouted, “Kneel down!” So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. 44 And Pharaoh said to him, “I am Pharaoh, but no one will lift a hand or foot in the entire land of Egypt without your approval.” 45 Then Pharaoh gave Joseph a new Egyptian name, Zaphenath-paneah.[a] He also gave him a wife, whose name was Asenath. She was the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On.[b] So Joseph took charge of the entire land of Egypt. 46 He was thirty years old when he began serving in the court of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And when Joseph left Pharaoh’s presence, he inspected the entire land of Egypt.

Explain – The story of Joseph continues from chapter 40 with Joseph still in prison, but through his spiritual gift of dream interpretation Joseph is made 2nd ruler in all of Egypt!

Apply – Joseph’s life is an example to us all to be faithful and obedient to the Lord despite any circumstance, no matter how bad things may appear or how long things are taking from our perspective.  God is always faithful and will bless those that are obediently faithful with Him.

John 14:15 ESV “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

1 Samuel 15:22 ESV And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.

James 1:22 ESV But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Isaiah 1:19 ESV If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;

Luke 6:46 ESV “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

John 14:23 ESV Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Romans 6:16 ESV Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Respond – Lord, thank You for Your salvation and the awesome life that I share with You.  I seek to remain obedient and faithful in and with You despite any circumstances.  I pray for those that do not know You, may they come to a saving knowledge and new life in You, Amen.
