Highlight – Genesis 45:26-28 New Living Translation
26 “Joseph is still alive!” they told him. “And he is governor of all the land of Egypt!” Jacob was stunned at the news—he couldn’t believe it. 27 But when they repeated to Jacob everything Joseph had told them, and when he saw the wagons Joseph had sent to carry him, their father’s spirits revived. 28 Then Jacob exclaimed, “It must be true! My son Joseph is alive! I must go and see him before I die.”
Explain – Jacob was surprised to hear the fantastic news that Joseph was alive, that he had become the 2nd ruler in Egypt, and that he had a place for them all to live with all the food they needed through the famine. Such wonderful news indeed!
Apply – We too wander through life sad and dejected, weighed down by our sin and shame in a famine of separation from the love of God. But we too have fantastic news! The Good News of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, rose again to restore us with Him in heaven. His sacrifice wiped away our sins and made a way of restoration for us with Him.
Romans 5:8 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 1:9 ESV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:7 ESV But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
John 1:14 ESV And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Hebrews 10:22 ESV Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Titus 3:5 ESV He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Respond - How marvelous to know You as Lord and Savior, my Lord. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is such wonderful news indeed. I pray for those that do not yet know You Lord, may they seek and find You. Amen.
