Highlight – Genesis 50:12-13 New Living Translation
Jacob’s Last Words to His Sons
12 So Jacob’s sons did as he had commanded them. 13 They carried his body to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre. This is the cave that Abraham had bought as a permanent burial site from Ephron the Hittite.
Explain – Joseph, ever faithful, followed Jacob’s request. He had Jacob’s body embalmed and then had his sons take and place Jacob’s body in the tomb where Abraham, Isaac, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah lie. This is the cave that Abraham had purchased from Ephron the Hittite, today called the Cave of the Patriarchs in the city of Hebron. This is near the place where Abraham entertained the three visitors that brought the promise of his son, Isaac.
Apply – God is ever faithful. He has prepared a place for each of us. Each of us needs to accept Him as Savior and Lord so that our sin will be wiped away, then we can be with Him always, through eternity.
Isaiah 40:28 ESV Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

John 14:1-2 ESV 1“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Respond - Lord, I am so glad that I am part of the family of God, washed clean by Your blood, to a newness of life. I strive to seek You and abide in You as You abide in me. I look forward to the life that I share with You through eternity. I pray for anyone that does not yet know You as Lord. Savior and Friend. Amen.
