The Descendants of Adam
5 This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings,[a] he made them to be like himself. 2 He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.” 3 When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him—in his very image. He named his son Seth. 4 After the birth of Seth, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters.5 Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.
Explain – Chapter five lists the descendants of Adam to Noah listing their age and their age when their son was born. This lineage can be charted out for a fascinating view of the age of the earth. See this graphical depiction of the Longevity Chart Adam to Joseph.

Notice that Adam was still alive when Noah lived, and that Noah was still alive when Abraham lived.
Apply – Our enemy, Satan, the devil, would have us believe that the earth is millions of years old, that the Bible is a myth. He is a liar from the beginning, his desire is to steal, kill, and destroy people any way he can. There is plenty of scientific evidence that proves the Bible is correct. Any fool can see that the Creator made time, space, matter, and the earth and everything on it.
Colossians 1:16-17 ESV For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
2 Peter 3:3-4 ESV Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
Luke 21:36 ESV But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Respond - Lord, thank You for my life, for this wonderful relationship that I have with You. Thank You for Your Truth that set me free! I strive to abide in You as You abide in me, faithfully and obediently following You. I pray for those that do not know You Lord, that they come to know You as their Lord and Savior, in Jesus name. Amen.
