HEAR Journaling - Genesis 7
Highlight - Genesis 7:5-11,23-24 New Living Translation
5 So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.
6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the earth. 7 He went on board the boat to escape the flood—he and his wife and his sons and their wives. 8 With them were all the various kinds of animals—those approved for eating and for sacrifice and those that were not—along with all the birds and the small animals that scurry along the ground. 9 They entered the boat in pairs, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah. 10 After seven days, the waters of the flood came and covered the earth.
11 When Noah was 600 years old, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the underground waters erupted from the earth, and the rain fell in mighty torrents from the sky. 12 The rain continued to fall for forty days and forty nights.
… 23 God wiped out every living thing on the earth—people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat. 24 And the floodwaters covered the earth for 150 days.
Explain – Noah was 600 years old when the flood waters came. We know from Genesis chapter 5:32, “32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.” That means that they had been working on the boat, the ark for about one hundred years. The flood waters came on the seventeenth day of the second month when the underground waters came forth, when the crust of the earth burst open. Rain continued for forty days and nights, note that there had never been rain on earth before this. The resulting mountains and oceans were created in this worldwide flood that covered the earth for one hundred and fifty days.
Apply – If you haven’t been to visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, I highly suggest you do. Check out our Hear2See video on the Ark Encounter. The application for us is to be tenacious in the work that God calls us to. Can we be diligently faithful and effective for one hundred years? Can we be diligently faithful for as long as God requires, without complaining?
Philippians 2:14-16 ESV Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

Respond - Lord, thank You for my life, for this wonderful relationship that we share. I strive to abide in You as You abide in me, faithfully and obediently following You to the end. I pray for those that do not know You Lord, that they come to You, in Jesus name. Amen.
