HEAR Journaling - Exodus 10

Highlight Exodus 10:16-20 New Living Translation

16 Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron. “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you,” he confessed. 17 “Forgive my sin, just this once, and plead with the Lord your God to take away this death from me.” 18 So Moses left Pharaoh’s court and pleaded with the Lord.

19 The Lord responded by shifting the wind, and the strong west wind blew the locusts into the Red Sea.[b] Not a single locust remained in all the land of Egypt. 20 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart again, so he refused to let the people go.

Explain – Pharaoh summoned Moses and repented for his sin against the Lord God, but when the plague was removed the Lord God hardened Pharoah’s heart again.

Apply – Have we perhaps repented to God for past sin to return to that sin rather than follow God?  God will turn us over to the consequences of our own sin.  The only true hope we have is to surrender to Jesus completely and fully, make him the Lord of our lives.  Continually and constantly seeking Him honestly, faithfully, and obediently through eternity.

Romans 1:28 ESV And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

Titus 1:16 ESV They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

Romans 1:24-28 ESV Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

2 Corinthians 13:5 ESV Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

1 Corinthians 9:27 ESV But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

James 1:22 ESV But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Hebrews 10:39 ESV But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Respond – Lord, I thank You for the new heart and new life that I have with You and in You. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently forever.  I pray for those with hardened hearts that they will accept You as lord and savior.  Amen.
