Highlight – Exodus 21:12-14 New Living Translation
12 “Anyone who assaults and kills another person must be put to death. 13 But if it was simply an accident permitted by God, I will appoint a place of refuge where the slayer can run for safety. 14 However, if someone deliberately kills another person, then the slayer must be dragged even from my altar and be put to death.
Explain – Moses was instructed to share God’s regulations to the people of Israel. Verses 12-14 discusses deliberate murder that requires the death of the murderer.
Apply – We must understand that God is our Lord and King. We should obey all things that He directs, and He will determine the recompense to be made for our sins against others. There is no hiding the truth from God, He knows all. All of this can be avoided by making Jesus the Lord of your life, to abide in the Holy Spirit as He abides in you. Follow Him faithfully and obediently and you will commit no sin. Repent for the past sins and ask God what you should do to make reconciliation to others.
Ephesians 4:32 ESV Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
Romans 5:10 ESV For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Matthew 18:15-17 ESV “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
Hebrews 12:14 ESV Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
Luke 17:3 ESV Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him,
Colossians 3:13 ESV Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Respond – Lord, thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. Help me Lord to be all that I can be in You and to others. Thank You for this amazing relationship that I share with You. I strive to follow You obediently and faithfully forever. I pray for any that do not know You, Lord. Amen.
