HEAR Journaling - Exodus 3
Highlight – Exodus 3:1-6 New living Translation
Moses and the Burning Bush
1 One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro,[a] the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai,[b] the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” 4 When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied. 5 “Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. 6 I am the God of your father[c]—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God.
Explain – Moses is attracted to the sight of a burning bush that was not consumed; it was burning through some external power. Moses climbed up the mountain to see the burning bush and found God. God explained that he had to remove his sandals to approach the burning bush.
Apply - If we want to approach God, we must be willing to put off the cares of this world just as Moses took off his sandals. We must seek God, just as Moses sought the burning bush. If we truly want to hear from God and be led by God we must be 100% honest with ourselves and with God.

Respond – Lord, thank You for Your will and plan for my life. I give myself totally to You, Your will not my will, Lord. I strive to abide in You as You abide in me, following You faithfully and obediently always forever. I pray for all that do not know You, that they will seek and find You. Amen.
