HEAR Journaling - Exodus 40
Highlight – Exodus 40:12-16 New Living Translation
12 “Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting and wash them with water. 13 You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. 14 And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. 15 You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.” 16 Thus Moses did; according to all that the Lord had commanded him, so he did.
Explain – God gave Moses instructions to assemble the Tabernacle per God’s specifications. Moses was instructed to bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tabernacle, wash them with water, put on Aaron’s holy garments and anoint and consecrate him. Then they were to clothe Aaron’s sons and anoint them as they did Aaron. Aaron and his descendants were appointed as the everlasting priesthood.
Apply – We too must be prepared for God’s work. We present ourselves to Jesus, sinners needing cleansing. We are cleaned by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that wipes away our sin. We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who provides continual anointing and consecration to the worship and work that God calls us to do. We follow Him faithfully and obediently forever always for an everlasting relationship with Him.
Romans 12:1-2 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
Luke 21:36 ESV But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
John 16:33 ESV I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 24:44 ESV Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
2 Timothy 2:15 ESV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Respond – Lord, thank You for Your salvation. Help me to be fully prepared for the tasks that You would have for me. Thank You for this opportunity to partner with You in the works that You have called for me. I look so forward to each day and what You will lead me to accomplish. Help me to be effective in the plan You have for my life. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. I pray that anyone that does not know You will come to a saving revelation and relationship with You, Amen.
