Highlight – Matthew 21:12-13 New Living Translation
Jesus Clears the Temple
12 Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. 13 He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”[f]
Explain – Jesus had little patience with the money changers and profiteers in the temple. God cannot tolerate sin.
Apply – Jesus provides amazing mercy and grace for a repentant person, but His wrath is real for anyone that will reject His free gift of salvation.
Romans 1:18 ESV For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
John 3:36 ESV Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Romans 2:5 ESV But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
Psalm 7:11 ESV God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day.
Romans 6:23 ESV For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 5:6 ESV Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 ESV For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Matthew 7:13-14 ESV “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Romans 5:8-9 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
Respond- Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace and my salvation. I strive to follow You, my Lord and savior, and pray for those that do not know You as their Lord and savior that they turn to You before it is too late. Amen.
