HEAR Journaling - Matthew Chapter 28
Highlight – Matthew 28:1-7 New Living Translation
The Resurrection
1 Early on Sunday morning,[a] as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. 2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. 3 His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. 4 The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. 5 Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. 7 And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
Explain – Jesus rose from the dead. Then an angel of the Lord came and rolled away the stone opening the tomb for all to see. The angel spoke to the women telling them to go and tell the disciples that He had risen from the dead and would meet them in Galilee.
Apply – Jesus died and rose again for all mankind including each of us today. Imagine, the creator of all things. He created time, space, heaven and the earth and everything in it. He came in the form of a human being to bring His message, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We should accept Him as Lord and Savior and follow Him faithfully and obediently through eternity.
1 John 4:14 ESV And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
John 3:16 ESV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 4:12 ESV And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Romans 6:23 ESV For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Timothy 2:3-4 ESV This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Acts 2:38 ESV And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Respond- Lord, thank You for my salvation, for this awesome relationship that I share with You. I strive to follow You obediently and faithfully. I pray earnestly for those that do not know You as their Lord and Savior. May they accept You and follow You through eternity. Amen.
