Are we in a golden era of football content? While major networks maintain a competitive advantage due to traditional distribution channels and deep pockets, ease of access has facilitated the rise of soccer content creators across various platforms.
But, here’s the thing: we haven’t seen a soccer-specific platform where fans of the beautiful game can go to learn, debate, and create.
Through GOLZ TV, founder Jose Tellez is trying to change that. Disappointed with what he deemed out-of-touch, inauthentic commentary from major news outlets, Jose has been fostering North America’s first content platform as a home for soccer videos and shorts to educate, entertain, and inspire the next generation of soccer fans in North America.
In Episode 57 of the Because Football Podcast, we speak with Dallas native (and Barca fan!) Jose about his personal soccer journey, what inspired him to create GOLZ TV, and the challenges and successes he has encountered in his quest to impact soccer culture in North America.
For any North American soccer fans, we encourage you to check out GOLZ TV, where you can find fan-created videos and articles about MLS, USL, NWSL, college soccer, and even the show "Unleashed with Eric Wynalda". GOLZ is the place for newer soccer fans inspired by Ted Lasso and Welcome to Wrexham, but also seasoned, veteran supporters of soccer culture at home and abroad.
