Description

What happens when the vibrant energies of a Croatian festival and an Egyptian dance find their stage in the heart of Belize City?

Lara Iskander experienced this unique cultural fusion during the annual Belize City Carnival, a day that vividly encapsulated her mixed heritage. Surrounded by new friends—a Croatian family and an Egyptian couple—they revelled in the festivities, sharing traditional dishes and stories that spanned continents. The day ended with meaningful gifts exchanged: a Croatian lace handkerchief and an Egyptian papyrus bookmark, symbols of a newfound unity in diversity.

It was a celebration not just of a carnival, but of shared humanity under the Caribbean sun.
