On this VIDEO episode of Southeast Iowa Today John Bain attends the Brighton City Council Meeting in Brighton, Iowa. The meeting was called to order on time at5:30 PM and followed by the roll call and agenda it was time for an employee 90 Day review and the Council went into closed session. Once that business was over the public and John were welcomed back in. John encourages the citizens of Brighton to start attending these City Council meetings. First and foremost, it lets the elected officials know you are interested in your town’s business. Secondly, when the meeting is opened to public comment, you have a chance to literally have your voice be heard. Communication is key in our society and, if you started communicating with your council in person, you might start seeing and witnessing a better and happier city which comes when all have an understanding on how things work and the benefits and limitations of that process.
