Amanda Huffman, a, Air Force veteran turned Mom and Author joined us this week. We learned about her journey to joining the Air Force. One not like the many we have heard. Not a lot of family members had previously been in the military. She gained her knowledge through what happened during 9/11. While in College she made the decision that she wanted to join. Due to a conversation with a friend took a longer journey to get there, but ended up becoming a Civil Engineer in the Air Force. Amanda shared some stories about her 9 month deployed in Afghanistan and some of her experiences there. Her becoming a mother led her to ultimately stepping away from her military service. After being out she felt she needed to do more, which compelled her to start her podcast and talking to female veterans about their stories. That turned in to a book called "Women of the Military". She has also written a book that empowers young women on giving them the facts of joining the military, and everything surrounding that decision.
