This episodes Muppet Fact: "The famous and hilarious Muppet Show aired from 1976-1981, and it’s quite different than other TV shows for more than one reason. A network produces most shows and then decides the airing times, but The Muppet Show was actually created, filmed, and then sold to local TV stations that were interested. At first, US cities were not interested but there was interest in England. So that is where the show got it’s start and where it was filmed; in a sense, it is a British show! The Muppet Show ran for 5 seasons totaling 120 episodes."
