This episodes Muppet Fact: "The Great Gonzo performed 20 stunts during his time on The Muppet Show, and we love him for it, but he wasn’t always The Great Gonzo. His first appearance was in an episode called “The Great Santa Claus Switch,” and his character was Snarl the Cigar Box Frackle. Jim Henson had the fun idea to have a chaotic Muppet, and so Snarl became Gonzo, the stunt-obsessed Muppet we all love!"
