This episodes Muppet Fact: "You might not have batted an eye at The Muppet Show’s laugh track, but Jim Henson sure noticed. He says, “As I look at some of the early shows, I'm really embarrassed by them. It's always a difficult thing to do well and to create the reality of the audience laughing. I did one special dry—without any laugh track—looked at it, and then tried it adding a laugh track to it, and it's unfortunate, but it makes the show funnier.” Jim Henson did include some nods to the laugh track in episode 104 where Kermit tells a joke that it’s all up to the laugh track if the show is funny or not, and again in episode 320 where Kermit ends the show saying, “You’ve been wonderful, laugh track!”"
