While working retail during the holiday season, Renee developed a severe viral infection in her throat that left her voiceless for a few months. Her best friend was the only beacon of hope in her life during those months of depression and self-isolation. After she recovered and retired from Corporate America, Renee followed her best friend’s example to 'Never Give Up'.
