Allyzibeth 'Ally' LaMont was a young woman who worked at Local No. 9 Deli in Johnstown, NY. She bravely reported labor law violations at the deli, leading to retaliation from the deli owner, Georgios Kakavelos. James Duffy, an associate of Georgios, was recruited to Ally as a result of her whistleblowing. They brutally killed her and attempted to conceal the crime by burying her body in a shallow grave.
Both Georgios Kakavelos and James Duffy were eventually arrested and brought to trial. Georgios received a life sentence without parole for first-degree murder, among other charges. James Duffy pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.
