Description

Hey Golf Cask Nation, Brian Bailie here with a special episode of "The Blend" focusing on blind tasting, where we identify whiskey details without labels. Using a whiskey advent calendar, I analyze the nose, color, legs, and taste of the whiskey to guess its origin, grain, age, and proof. I guessed an American rye, which turned out to be Sonoma Distilling Cherrywood Smoked Rye. For beginners, I recommend Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond, Wild Turkey 101, and Green River for bourbon, and Tullamore Dew, Jameson, Paddy’s, and Powers for Irish whiskey. Use a Glencairn glass for better nosing. Upcoming at Golf Cask: data science builds, online meetups, a podcast, and guest interviews, with an Irons and Oak event in Charlottesville on December 6-8. Next week, we'll discuss blending techniques for better putting. Cheers!
