Description

In this episode of Links, Lore & Spirits, we take aim at one of whiskey and golf’s most repeated myths: where did the word “shot” come from? Is it tied to whiskey? Weapons? Golf swings? Or is it just another story born at the bar?

We explore two popular myths:
🥃 Myth #1: A “shot of whiskey” came from cowboys trading bullets for booze.
⛳ Myth #2: The “shot” in golf and whiskey have a shared origin.

With a tap-in par level of historical sleuthing and just enough pour to make it plausible (or busted), we stamp each myth with one of our signature verdicts:
Real. Plausible. Busted.

Plus, we raise a glass to community, conversation, and the real shots we take—on the course and off. Cheers to that.

Toast of the Night:
“Here’s to the shots we take—on the tee box and off the top shelf.” 🥃⛳
