Parables: The Leaven
Luke 13:18–21

What does the kingdom of God really look like? In this sermon, Pastor Zach Bechtold invites us to explore one of Jesus’ shortest but most powerful parables—the story of the yeast. Just as a tiny bit of leaven can work its way through sixty pounds of flour, so too can small, unseen acts of love, grace, and forgiveness transform lives and communities.

Drawing from everyday experiences like baking bread during the pandemic and connecting it with the ordinary, earthy images Jesus used, Pastor Zach shows how God’s kingdom grows slowly, quietly, and yet with unstoppable power. The parable of the yeast reminds us that the kingdom is not just about dramatic gestures but about the hidden, humble ways God works within us and through us—bringing life, hope, and renewal to the world.

Tune in as we continue our summer series on the parables of Jesus and discover how even the smallest things, when given space to rise, can change everything.
