Join in as I speak with a fellow patient advocate, friend and nurse about "The Passion of Patient Advocates". Please meet Adrianne Coward, RN. In 2005, three of her maternal aunts were diagnosed with terminal breast cancer at the same time. Compelled to assist her aunts with fighting this disease, she became their Patient Advocate, assisting each aunt with all aspects of their healthcare needs.
From accompanying them to doctors’ appointments, getting them essential medical equipment, coordinating home healthcare, and other tasks that required her to utilize her clinical expertise of the healthcare system; She was able to ensure all of their medical needs were met on a daily basis.
Moreover, she stood firm in her commitment to helping each aunt maintain strong family bonds with their children, which eased the emotional strain that comes with such care. Andrianne is the founder of Monarch Patient Advocates.
