Description

What matters more when you talk with someone: expressing yourself authentically or being understood? Self-expression is an act of self-respect, honoring our truth, even when the words land imperfectly.

But when we shift our focus toward being understood, our story becomes dependent on someone else's perception, biases, attention span, and emotional availability. Pride sneaks in, and we lose genuine connection. Humility gives us the courage to speak without assurance of being understood. It feeds connection, because showing up matters more than being perfectly heard.

Our experiences can be wildly different, while our feelings are beautifully similar. That’s the thread that ties us together. When we stop trying to translate our feelings for the listener and instead focus on honest expression, we connect organically. What matters is that we’re brave enough to speak, vulnerable enough to feel, and humble enough to trust that someone, somewhere, knows the feeling we’re describing, even if their story is a little different.
