Just to give you a glimpse of the ‘crazy’ in my head—despite recording my podcast daily and getting constant positive feedback about my vulnerability and impact, I still fixate on not being enough. For two days now, I’ve been thinking, “I should do my hair and makeup and look more professional.” Really? Because THAT matters? 🤪

My default self-talk is always, “I’m not enough.” I work hard to shift my focus from success vs. failure to honesty and effort. I can’t quiet the power my negative self-talk has over me without asking myself if my efforts are pushing the limits of my disability—and being honest about the answer.

I actually don’t do my hair and makeup on purpose, I reminded myself, because Recovery Daily Podcast is meant to reflect real life—and real life in recovery isn’t pretty. Some days, I spend most of my time horizontal, listening to audiobooks.

Sure, I didn’t put on makeup or curl my hair today, but I did do yoga for an hour AND take a shower! Today, I’m a winner.
