Description

In this episode of the Recovery Daily Podcast, I talk about maintaining spiritual well-being as a cornerstone of my sobriety program. Reflecting on my morning meeting, I explore the subtle but important differences between depression and self-pity, two emotional states that can blur together but require distinct approaches for healing.

I share some experiences where I had feelings of loneliness and self-pity, moments when I mistakenly believed these feelings were just part of who I was. I didn’t realize that those emotions were symptoms of disconnection, unaddressed pain, and a chemical imbalance, not my identity.

I emphasize that maintaining my spiritual condition daily, through activities like prayer, meditation, and attending meetings, prevent me from slipping back into those dark places. I also talk about how important it is for me to reflect on past struggles to appreciate how far I’ve come in my recovery. We do not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it because without it we wouldn't be exactly where we are now.
