In today's episode, I share about how my experience in recovery as an alcoholic can help me to embrace the power of small victories. In sobriety, every day felt heavy with uncertainties about if I could successfully face the day without drinking. Each small victory was pivotal to my momentum and commitment to living one day at a time without drinking.
With that experience applied to my stroke recovery, I can consider even the smallest progress a win—each a reason to celebrate. Discomfort is something I've been learning how to lean in to and its no different after my stroke. I can let go of the need to accomplish something fully because it may cause head pain, view each day as an opportunity to heal just a little bit more, and find strength in those small victories. These are the building blocks for my future self.
