Today’s episode is about embracing the new version of
ourselves through the lens of sobriety and stroke recovery by adapting our activities and habits. Sobriety taught me a valuable lesson: people change. People are constantly changing in small ways, adjusting, adapting, bending, breaking, healing, learning, unlearning, etc.
In Sobriety, we reevaluate our habits, our coping mechanisms, and even our social circles. Similarly, in stroke recovery, I must adapt once again, but this time, to accommodate my new physical and neurological limitations. Adapting doesn't mean giving up on what I love; it means finding new ways to enjoy those activities within my current capabilities.
Listen to this episode to hear more about what questions we need to be asking ourselves and what questions to avoid. These questions are not to define our limitations, but instead to discover pain-free activities and alternative ways to enjoy what we love through new methods.
