Description

If somebody told you for the next month every time you're in the car you must right keep your eyes closed no matter what. Do you have that much trust and your driver? Would you trust them with each twist and turn? How ‘bout on the streets of D.C.?

In today's episode, I talk about feelings of helplessness and how to shift our perspective from victim to passenger, letting go of control—closing our eyes and trusting the journey.

I start out by talking about what helplessness feels like to me. As I thought about this what came to mind my last days of drinking and my last days before full-time stroke recovery. It felt like there was no solution and nothing would ever change. I was scared of any decision I would make and all the decisions I'd made prior. Helplessness can be crippling.

I share about the work that it takes to move from helplessness to peace of mind. I provide several helpful tools that I use to maintain in my peace of mind, even on hard days. These include journaling, attending support groups, praying, and I’m not above talking to my dogs about things that are bothering me.
