Description

In today's episode of the Recovery Daily Podcast, I talk about how to transform our attitudes and outlook on life through action. Inspired by today's Daily Reflection and Viktor Frankl's "Man’s Search for Meaning," I explore how consistent action in our recovery program helps shift our perspectives and fosters lasting sobriety and serenity.

I discuss how the promise of sobriety in AA—that our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change—has manifested in my life. When I was drinking, my attitude was selfish, driven by my obsession with where I was going to get my next drink. As the Daily Reflection states, in sobriety self-seeking slips away, and my attitude towards life and others transforms through consistent actions like working the Steps, attending meetings, and carrying the message.

Today, I also touch on what sanity means to me, and my relationship, or lack thereof, throughout my life with sanity.

The key to a shift in attitude is action: attending meetings, reading or listening to literature, and actively engaging in the program. These actions created momentum for me, while gradually pulling my attitude along and reinforcing my commitment to recovery.

Through this episode, you'll learn how to cultivate and maintain a positive, helpful attitude by doing the next right thing and focusing on what's immediately in front of you. This approach has been my guiding star, helping me create a life of purpose and fulfillment, especially as I navigate stroke recovery and life with a disability.
