A discarded pineapple Fanta can followed by another “e-motorcycle” sighting yesterday reminded me why I keep playing this little sign‑spotting game with the universe. When I ask for a sign and then open myself up to seeing one, there it is mere steps after the decision. The pineapple has been my sobriety mascot ever since my first sober business trip at San Francisco’s Staypineapple Hotel. Yesterday proved once again that the cosmos still has impeccable timing when I ask for a sign. I explain more in today’s episode.
I realized yesterday while talking to my psychiatrist that my higher power is always broadcasting, and my job is to keep the antenna up. When fear, anger, or resentment jam the frequency, I become disconnected. But when I start the day with a prayer, a sobriety meeting, and a decision to listen, the signs land. Whether it’s from a soda can, a song, or a double-rainbow, I can cultivate a permanent energy from the impermanence of life rerouted through me and fueled by love. If I stay willing and keep the internal noise to a minimum, I’m never truly alone, even on the loneliest of days.
