Even five years into sobriety, I didn’t really get the spiritual part of the program. I didn't know the difference between religion and spirituality, and I couldn’t tell you what spiritual fitness was. I thought I was doing recovery right because I wasn’t drinking, but there was so much more in store for me. Spiritual fitness is being willing to pause and ask myself, “Are all your parts okay, Rachel? Your heart, your mind, your purpose, your joy?”

The most amazing parts of this life go unseen and can only be felt. Passion, faith, grace, hope, wind, and emotional healing are all invisible. We don’t see all these things that move us and shape us, and yet they are responsible for change within us. Spiritual fitness is the openness and willing to allow that change to happen.
