In the episode, Rachel shares about the grief she is coping with after losing a big brother figure in her life. Just as life is sometimes, before we manage the impact from the death of a dear friend, we receive news of another loss due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Rachel shares some encouraging words from the author, TED speaker, and Podcaster, Nora McInerny.
Some points that ring true for Rachel are that grief and moving forward are not two opposing forces. We can carry our grief with us as we heal, as we package the pain in a way that we can carry it in the form of experience, strength, and hope.
The most important thing that she learned today is that there are some experiences that don't require growth. All that is required is sobriety.
Attention: Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 5. As you prepare to set your clocks back one hour, remember to check the batteries in your carbon monoxide (CO) detector. If you don’t have a battery-powered or battery back-up CO alarm, now is a great time to buy one. Each year, more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning not linked to fires, more than 100,000 visit the emergency room, and more than 14,000 are hospitalized.
