Today was hard, and I know that when I have a tough day, I need to tell someone. I told Farshad, and now I’m telling you. I recover out loud because it saves me from myself.
While frying those Persian meat patties that I shared with you earlier, I forgot my purpose—the thing that inspires me in recovery. I caught myself thinking, “How will I ever be great doing this?”
Before I became medically retired, I saw success as a ladder. And, even though my purpose changed when I became disabled, I haven’t reimagined what success looks like in this new chapter of my life.
