Questions for Small Groups
From the passage:
- From Nehemiah 5, What was happening in Jerusalem and how were they interacting with one another?
- From Nehemiah 5:6-9, How does Nehemiah reaction differ from the reaction of the Jewish leaders?
- A) From Nehemiah 5:9, what does Nehemiah think will cause them to do what is right? B)- What is the fear of God?
- Why do you think the Jews were profiting from the members of their own community?
Application:
- We are constantly being bombarded with knowledge and information in society and sometimes in the church. A) In our walk with Jesus how can we actively practice what we are hearing? B) Is there any teachings of bible your trying to practice at the moment?
- Can you think of any examples where the church can easily fit in with the world instead of being distinctive?
- What does a community, centred around Jesus look like? - What is distinctive about a church community?
It might be good idea to think about the stories of Jesus and makeup of the early church.
- Rounding up everything we been discussing and looking out into the world - God wanted these people to be distinctive so that they will be a light to the nations. A) where do you think there are cracks and needs in our society? B) Can you think of any practical ways we can be a light to the world?
