Before I dive into the passage in Acts, remember that as a believer in Christ, your true family lineage is through Christ; we are born from above now, no longer belonging to this world. We have a new identity—a heavenly one. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:14-17) and heirs according to God’s promise (Gal. 3:26-29). “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.” Col. 3:10 NLT “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Rom. 12:2 NLT
