God says the tithes of the land belong to him, not us, so don't steal what is his. Christians are to pay God his tithe (10%) on all their net increase each year. Net increase (income) is one's gross income minus all those monies taken from his pay over which he has no control, such as, Federal, State, and Local Taxes, Federal Social Security, Medicare, etc.
The tithe is to be given to those people doing God's work, i.e., ministering to God - priests and lay people.
In the third year, the tithe is to be given not only to those ministering to God, but also to the stranger in the land, the fatherless, and the widow.
God tells us to pay him his tithe, and then put him to the test, i.e., watch and see if he does not bless the works of our hands and open the floodgates of heaven and pour us out a blessing even to abundance.
Each year we and those of our household are to use part of God's tithe to enjoy a good meal or feast on Him.
